Title: Social Determinants of Health Affecting the HIV Care Cascade in Vulnerable Populations Living with HIV/AIDS

Granting agency:

Period: 1 year

Amount: $9,000

In 2020, UNAIDS announced the 95-95-95 treatment targets to curb the HIV epidemic by 2025. This goal may not be reached due to the high rate of attrition among people living with HIV, with up to one-fifth of those on antiretroviral therapy (ART) lost to follow-up within the following year. To address this challenge, it is necessary to better understand the causes of ongoing attrition through the lens of health inequalities created by social determinants of health. The project will assess the attrition of women living with HIV in Senegal, from diagnosis to ART use and viral suppression.
